A Gift of Ship...

A Ship Gift is a gift given to all the team individuals for thier tremendous contribution in making a successful release of the product. My companys pride has always been into satisfying its employees in all ways (monitorily as well..).. I am writing this post after coming from a hefty corporate lunch at Sahib sindh sultan with a corporate menu on the occassion of shipping our prod successfully (guess so but not sure though.. someone says, if its corporate lunch we shouldnt think much.. just go and hog and come...no matter what is the occassion...)... we started our lunch with Papad, Shev Puri chat, Chicken Starters, Roti pe Boti starter, Roti and Curries, Chick Biryani... Finally Kulfi madeup dessert was amazing... On our return, our PM sends an email to collect the yummy ship gift - a 2 GB flash drive... That includes a few people from other team who were in no way related to the release of our product.. haha.. I atleast feel very happy to be one among the lot if i am being called to collect a gift (for the release of my neighbourly products without any reason..)... no worries... but i really feel sorry for the management for not having given it to a few more people whose contribution has been invaluable through out the release. When you leave the team you are someone else... yes, thats what they exactly mean when they say - "You will be really missed in the team"... which includes these as well.. haha... To the irony, some other teams also get the same gift for their quarter morale... no wonder, management is smart.. they make sure that you are happy... you get something apart from your bonus money... no matter what they name it a - ship gift, quarter morale gift, neighbhour hood prod release gift.. A gift is a gift to cherish for long for any one.....

Movie Dialogs...

Most of us watch movies. I feel writer is the backbone of the entire movie. Not every one can write dialogs that can match to a real situation. Go for any movie, there are a lot of possibilites that some or the other portion of it matches your life and thats when you feel, something is really touching your heart... reason: you think you can correlate it to your life... "A student who failed in an exam by getting 1 mark will never feel bad but a student who got 1 mark less than pass mark will always feel bad through out his life...First one never feels bad because he wouldnt have studied at all, the second one would have studied hard day and night to make sure nothing goes wrong but something went wrong and he failed by a whisker"... is one such nice dialogue that applies to all students... There are more such dialogs which really touch your heart but like me, you would have also already forgot most of them that have touched your heart so far... Look at people who come out of a movie theater, you will find atleast one person coming out with his feelings already matched to a character in the movie. A guy coming out with his GF from the movie, atleast one of them will feel either he is the hero or she is the heroine matching the movie character. A mom and a dad compares themselves to the corresponding charaters in the movie. This applies mostly to our parents who would like to watch family oriented pictures, they tend to live in the corresponding characters.. This is when some of us shed the tears watching a movie for a sad scene... hehe... Its good (only sometimes) because some movies give very good message (not all, especially tamil movies which definately end in killing up the heroine for whatever reasons..)... Hope you make an impression of all those dialogs that impacted you while watching movies. Some really inspire you. Take only the positive part and leave out the negative portion.... Every movie has a message and even if you get the right piece that you want then thats still enough...

Success counts...

Do you think you are a successful person in life? I must say you have not yet made the chart of Success counts that will inspire you to do more.. Life is all about Success counts. The day you are born is a success count for your parents. The day you started speaking the language is a success count for you. The day you got first rank in school was your success count. The day you won first prize in any competition say TT, badminton, cricket, football, volleyball, kho-kho, kabaddi, lawn tennis, basket ball, carroms, chess, essay writing, elocution etc. you are successful. The day you secure the good rank to get a seat into the best college, thats your another success count. The girl you like, few are successful, few are exceptions ;). The day you make your first job is your success point. The day you started earning first One Rupee in your life.. do u remember when? do you remember what you did with the first rupee that you earned on your own? you missed the success point... Success points come to you as you grow older.. I must say that even the smallest of the success point / happy moment should be counted/noted along with relevent photos into a chart. Memories of success points will boost up your confidence, plan for your further success points... You still missed the snap you took in your class 2 birthday.. thats a success point.. hope u dont miss any further...

Hard work always pays you...Though late..

Most of us have gone through a smiliar life style. All of us gone through Class - I to Class - X, +2 and then higher studies. We were given different brains and different skills, different likings, different tastes.. thats godsd creation. If we talk about all those who succeeded in life and earning 25 lakhs per annum now in Adobe, then think about all those who fought a lot to come up in life since you started race since Class-I. Some move fast, some move slowly - whose fault is it ? Do we have to blame God and his creation for this? A guy worked so hard that he struggled all his life since his class VIII, class X... +2, travelled 120 kms daily for his graduation, travelled 120 kms daily for his new job... 9 years he travelled 120 kms daily for various reasons, he had lots of other importances, other responsibilities along with work and studies.. he chased them all, he full-filled them to the maximum possible extent but no one can give 100% best in 2 hours of time before exams.. he just faired and never been among the bright mark students. Days passed and his hardwork, dedication, love for his friends, everything increased, he matured more like a human being who is born to help whoever comes to him for a help. He is now blessed with a very good option now. He got into a race where people walk so smoothly and they dont struggle for money.. the sw industry... All the hardwork he has done so far, all the responsibilities, i just cant count them all.. they dont have a unit to measure... they paid off finally.. i am just so happy... Hardwork always tests your patience, few are very lucky to get through.. few get it very hard... but finally it pays off. Hope it pays off to all those who deserve it...

Silver Jubliee - Bday

May 17th night 9:30 PM.. me and abhay at home and no one around. Abhay normally goes to sleep at 10 pm but he tried hard to stay awake for the 12 clock ticking.. No wonder he gave up and went and slept off at 11 pm and i took a nap at 11:30pm... Its 5 minutes to 12. Anniah, Chillu, KSLP, Uttam, SB, Srinath, Sandee, Abhay...  4 rounds of firing bumbs session and i kept the same smile on my face hard though ;) The performance of each member on my back was ranging from above average to high impact. But this definately is lesser than what i had got in Pune in 2004 where 15+ people targetted my butt for the same D'day. Huh, only at 12:40 i got a chance to relax... its hard, its pinching, its undescribing... The powerful shots of Chillu and SB didnt give any gap though. Anniah was full-time on the job from beginning till the end though the impact on me was relatively negligible ;) hehe. When all was over, i realised its hard to stand on two feet... Wishes poured from every one... then i got up to my feet... Blowed the candles standing 6 to 7 feet away from the cake and candles... Well, i didnt had an option to go closer than that... Thanks to the vayudoot which came out of me at the right time... Gifts wishes and lot more.. It was one more happy Celebration... And my 25th B'Day... Life has been good so far. When i was below 10, i didnt know who i was.. i lost something valuable.. below 20, i struggled hard to come up in life.. 10th, +2, Engineering admission to bits were all result of my HARD core studies, no wonder the zeal to do something in life now has drastically come down to nearly 20% now of what i was then. But my 15-20 years of life has paid for me a lot. From 20-25, i matured in terms of thinking. Learnt life is not about books, studies, marks, exams... End of college, things happened, my PS-II @ Techlead Pune, And then Pramati, Macromedia, Adobe... all happened. I got new friends at every stage, most of them are in US now.

My Day started with wishes on SMS from Senthil n .. I reached office, i called up brother and mom... my sister.. took their blessings, Shilpa heard me talking to my parents and she wished me. Naveen called up and lakwinder heard me talking on phone. She wished and sent email to DL-SStaff. Sudharshan was on leave. Thanks to dude, who remembered to call me.. he was on leave for his mom's op. Saw yogesh and dominic while i was going to Anand Sweets, jayanagar to get sweets to team. I came back with sweets by then emails flooded my inbox with all Dev, QE, CPS-QE every one wishing me. I wanted to leave office early to go to hyd. Left early, came back today and saw nearly 50 wishes scrapped on my orkut scrap book which took nearly 1 hour of mine to say my hai back to them... Malli called me when i just boarded the train, he missed me the day night. And while i was travelling uncles called. Day was full of wishes from the beginning till the end of the day. It feels so happy and good. The day ended... No matter what, we can make our every day so happy but enjoying it the most... meeting up the friends shud be prime... Thanks to every one for making it a success. Snaps are here www.arunkumarm.com/bday/

Going To Gym

This word has been really buzzing word for me, since i stood on the line with a paper form and a passphoto attached to it, in my Second year first semester of my College, Bits Pilani. Gym was very sophisticated on campus with a trainer and good enough equipment. Bits organizes BOSM a national sports gathering, Gym is well known for Sharon and an ME-ite who are the gaint weight-lifters.. they always win Gold medals for bits atleast here. After joining gym, most of us go for first few days very regularly.. Same thing happened with me.. i was very regular for nearly two months... it was a really good experience. Well, that enthusiasm didnt last long.. i quit gym due to time constraints and never got back the same time again after entering into my CDC's.

This time it is bangalore.. Srinath (my roommate and bitsian jr.) and myself went to an indian Gym near by home for about two months... it was one of the finest of the times i have went to gym... Adobe, the company i work for in bangalore has announced its corporate deal offer for its employees. Well the enthusiasm rejuvinated again after 6 years and this time... my sweet team went along... Avinash, lakwinder, Myself, Freddy. Fitness one is more professional gym rather than any other normal gym. To Begin with, we had to book an appointment for "Physio" and "Nutrition". Physio will check your eligibility for "What to do, how to do" based on your health conditions. My Physio was an exciting, shocking, surprising, enthusiasing @ koramangala. After that I had my cardio test.. We didnt go to Koramangala gym for long time due to Hunter release. One day myself and freddy went and got our cards transferred to Jayanagar branch.. We went to jayanagar branch consistently for 8 days.. after then, we discontinued. Now can you guess how long we discontinued?? Around 4-5 months. I am back to gym since last 15 days. Getting up from bed at 6'0 clock has become a real routine for me. I am enjoying it with my trainers helping me a lot..

Fredrick Terrance: yeah

Fredrick Terrance: that is what is compatibility mode for, right?

Arun: no..

Fredrick Terrance: you allow lower versions to create connections

Arun: CT CS3 shud be in transition mode right

Arun: not compatibility mode

Fredrick Terrance: Transition mode is something

Arun: guess u forgot contribute in no time

Fredrick Terrance: that you force the lower versions users to transition to newer versions to work properly

Fredrick Terrance: this is transition mode

Arun: u are talking opposite

Fredrick Terrance: compatibility mode is that even the lower versions are compatible with the new ones

Fredrick Terrance: i am rifhrt

Fredrick Terrance: right*

Fredrick Terrance: 100%

Fredrick Terrance: sure

Fredrick Terrance: confident

Arun:

Arun: so if my CT CS3 is running in Transition mode, people with older version should get migrated to CT CS3 to connect to the site is it?

Fredrick Terrance: yes

Arun: i mean, in that case CT 4 will not connect to that site

Fredrick Terrance: u r right

Arun:

Arun: freddy, carry on with symantec

Arun: u forgot contribute totally

Arun: let me send u one screen shot

Fredrick Terrance: k

Fredrick Terrance: send it first

Arun: see this

Fredrick Terrance:

Working for your Career in SW Industry, First few years...

For an Engineering Grad who typically joins a SW industry either picked up from campus or a job searched through your friends... I feel it is very important to choose yourself the "Domain" you would like to make a mark into. Being a fresher you wouldnt have much knowledge of what a domain is, is it good for me... what will be my future if i stick to this domain, how is the current market for this domain etc. Most of the time, the SW learning aspiration comes from the friends you have around you...

Most important thing for an individual joining any role in a SW industry is - "Work for your job as if it were your last day in the company that doesnt mean you should leave the company for stupid reasons :D, keep your learning curve growing and constant.. Try to explore more things, keep moving forward, learn from your team members who do different things, spend some of your time in learning the technologies that will support you for your domain... Rush fast, never find yourself loosing the pace on the technology you like and you are working on. You work for the company because they pay you and the rest is common among other MNCs as well (to the large extent but it differs too).. This is very important for you to note that at any point of time, you should be ready to sell yourself in the market... you should not come back and say, oh no.. i was busy with my other works @ job and i didnt find time for this.. that.. etc."..

Dont loose the meaning of life while doing all this, please do this and you will realise down the line after say 3-5 years, you can move very confidently.. you can sell yourself very confidently...

What do you look at when you see a girl ?

This was the first question posed to me by one of my Seniors in my ragging session when i initially joined Osmania University College of Engineering for my Engineering. Well, i guess some of us know that there are always somethings that need to be sensored while putting it outside... no wonder, seniors and ragging sessions are meant to be giving them fun and blast with the juniors... and no guy wants to tell it outside.. Typically what do guys look in a girl? Be it Forum mall or Bangalore Central or Inox or Brigade or your good old college... The girls face, her dress and overall attire.... Why is it obvious that gilrs take a longer time in "Getting Ready" to go out.. be it college, work, shopping or just like that... hmm.. they want to look good for many reasons.. now let me cross question? What do girls look when they look at guys? The way guys dress up? Their hair style? Shoe? I dont know - May be girls should know :) Anyways, The mentor of Communication training pointed this out.. When you talk to a female gender where do you have to look at her? He told, typically female gender will feel very conscious when you look at them for little more time... So he suggested, looking at her face... near around her Bindi or top of her hair is a better way.. sometimes fluctuating your eyes from her forehead to hair is what he said is OKAY... He told, some female gender wont like the guy looking into her eyes and talking to her if the time constraint is more... well, Gautam Bhagra had a question here: Wont females feel uncomfortable when you look at her hair :) i mean where are you looking at ?? haha.. he was more concerned :) hahah... Either ways, i feel certain thing depend on the time and situation and the girl / female you are looking at... A female wearing modern fashion dress walking some where will be "The target" for many guys for whatsoever reasons which even the female would have known already but thats "LIFE"....

Can you re-order it ?

As a part of the Communication training, The mentor made a point related to "What is important when you are communicating"? The following table was given for us. Assume, you are given 100 points to put them on these three points, how do you divide them for an effective communication?

Choice of Words  ?
Vocal Strength ((like pitch, sound, quality, strength etc)  ?
Body Language of the person  ?

I initially gave the answer, Equally. But when i was asked to tell me another answer where "Equally" may not work, then i choose First Choice of Words, then Body language and then vocal strength. Others in the training argued on why it should be that way, why not Body Language and then vocal strength and then choice of words.

In My opinion, I feel the right choice of words is very important when we are communicating. They form the heart of your communication. Without the right words you cannot articulate what you want to convey.. I would like the facial expressions and the body language of the person to fall next because, a person sitting in a chair raising his foot on the table and talking to you using right choice of words still makes you upset. The vocal strength is last but definately not the least.

What do you feel which is right? A Survey in US has told that Choice of words = 7%, Vocal Strength=38%, Body language = 55%. No wonder, the mentor explained that English is mother tongue for all US individuals and for them it is very obvious that they will use right words while communicating. So this ratio might differ in india where most of us in some situations try to think in our mother tongue in mind and then try to translate...

What is important in Communication?

Yesterday i went early to office to attend - "Two sides of Effective communication" training. Mr. Chandresh is an IIM-A Grad passout in 1982 (when i was born)... Chandresh is a gujju and he initially worked with Smithklime Beechem for about 11 years and now he runs his own HR Consulting firm which handles training to corporates professionals. There was a lot of initial hype created with-in the team by either manager or others about the course, no wonder the cost of the course is pretty huge and the cost center has to bear it... 400$  It was a 3 and half hour training session where all the participants are provided with some material copies. Of the 18 people only 10 people attended the training i.e., the rest 8 people's loss of 400$x8 = 32,000$ will be penalised on adobe. Thats the sad part. The training started with every one providing a brief introduction about themselves. There was a variety of mix of people in the room with people having an experience of 2 months in adobe to 3 years in adobe.

It finally started.  Chandresh started explaining some points which i guess every one would know but its more of rephrasing. How to effectively communicate? How to listen to the communicator patiently? What are the signs of dis-interest shown by the listener? Listerner can choose to either NOT hear the communicator and avoids the person or sometimes the topic is not of so much interest to him. Then he started with the word - "Empathy".. Empathy is being aware of the other persons emotions and feelings. Please note that when u are communicating you dont necessarily need to agree on the other persons views or emotions but you can just understand the emotions and be aware of. Certain other words were also explained which were more or less all of us know. Later we were given some situations to do Role-Play. Arguments discussions, overall it was like - Half an hour of trying to rephrase things that you are aware of and the rest, is assignments...

This Week

This week is passing so fast... Guess this is one of the fewer weeks where there was not much of hectic work... Apart from some regular work, its was really great... i have been listening to Rock Music and i still love it... Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Guns n Roses for now... Will start with Pink Floyd and Metallica next week :) For most of us who are born with a touch of a soft heart... we all tend to love soft music..  None of our regional music is Rock... its soft.. Can you imagine a Hindi / Telugu / Tamil / Kannada Song to be made completely with Rock Style...  hehe... well that must be funny... Listening to Rock requires a lot of self-interest and passion to hear to it. Once you are into it, you will start loving it, but Entering into it is the biggest problem... Its much tougher than entering into an IIT or an IIM... hehe... TT Singles with Charles on Tuesday has been real good... That way i realised that the Try hard TT player charles does play good when it comes to singles with his Chapathi super-fast serve taking your bells off... But he didnt win too many either... Its been close to two years now i am with macromedia/adobe, never i went to play TT in the middle of the day.. I went today with the enthu push from Suresh Reddy and Sachin, We played two on one (One of the Unique Game, Freddy myself and Avinash has invented)... To the irony, the single sided player among us always won... its been great... Freddy leaving the team has an impact on the day 1 but it doesnt appear too much though.. Avinash and Susoma are covering up for everything... Yogesh and Dominic remain humorous as always... lakwinder is too busy with her personal problems.. and shilpa talks less and smiles more :) hehe... Over all this week so far has been not-so-stressful. BTW, my regular Gymming has really increased my self-interest... Thanks to Raghu and Ranjit (Personal Trainers) with whom i gelled properly to help me work out... Not able to avoid cooking at home by coming early though....

LKG to 10th classmate... Friends forever..

The guy you are seeing on my right -

Name        : B. Naveen Kumar

Working    : Programmer Analyst, Wipro India.

Schooling   : Sri Santhosh School, Bhongir

+2             : Nalanda Jr. College

Engineering : B.E. ECE

M.Tech from SRM College Chennai...

When i opened my eyes to see the world... i have seen him along with some others... it so happened that we both are born in the same home place.. Bhongir.. We both studied in the same school from LKG till Class 10th. Naveen @ Sridhar @ Potti @ Tillu ... Was a Kho-Kho Champion in our batch those days..

Son of a very popular person in bhongir - Dr. Dhargiah (Ph.d) in Botony, Professor SLNS College, Bhongir, This guy has always found it difficult when he tries hard to name himself as Naveen and not "Son of Dhargiah" when doing mis-cheifs. Class VIII, Class IX - have been one of the best times of my life when we three used to concur most of the happenings either in class or in school. We three are myself, Naveen and Raghu.

Raghu @ Raghuver Reddy @ langamma @ lot more... you must be laughing now.. yes he is a guy who always tries to be serious most of the time but always falls to the trap of Mahesh and others pulling him. He had a crazy habbit of picking up things on the road for what-s0-ever reason... lots of names evolved from there :) mischiefs apart, we there were like three best buddies.. Kho-Kho was one of the cool games played in our leisure period when our PET used to take us out... We three used to be the first three people and we used to occupy most of the 9 minutes time... This chap has move to Hyderabad after his dad got transferred in his class x. We missed him a lot. He then finished his B.E from a college in Hyd and moved to US for his MS. He is now done with his MS and working in Stanford as labs on some projects..

Gone were those days when myself and naveen struggled so hard, going to Padharaju Hanmantharao School for Coaching for Class X. Those days were really great. With a very little opportunity where teachers used to teach very casually at school, it was real tough atleast for me to cope up with my +2 college at Hyderabad. After then things changed for me and i managed to get a seat in BITS for my engg. Naveen struggled in life for sometime and then his M.Tech changed his life.. He is happy with his wipro. He pushed his brother (who is currently in US trying to complete higher studies after completeing MBBS) back and liked the girl just by looking at the photos initially... This chap has tried real hard initially to avoid marriage at an early age of 25 ! He couldnt stop himself seeing the girl, in his final year after having an offer with Wipro... and you can see how fast he went on now.. he has a lovely kid - Harshitha recently born... Well things changed, but friend-ship never changed. We interact, meet each other, freakout... Its rejoicing when you have a friend whom you know from the beginning and you still continue to...
